Devon Languages Devon LA produces some useful resources and ideas for exloiting all sorts of texts and other learning opportunities.  This site is a MUST for all t hose serious about Primary Languages.

Electronic story collection Sue Dymock from Ashlands in Crewkerne discovered this site and has used the stories of "Philibert" and "Et l'on chercha tortue".

European Bookshop

This is one of the best places to obtain foreign story books etc.  Click on PACKS in the window on the left of the home page to find the Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 nd Year 6 packs of story books that they can supply you with.   Each title can be purchased separately if required.

This link takes you to the order form for a variety of resources - all FREE!!  To see what a publication looks like, click on the name of the item and it will open in a new window.  Additional ersources are on the European resources order form on the "What's new" section of this site.  I am not sure why all the possilbe resources are not listed together....???

 

If you are after the little blue EU passports with stickers, pens, rulers, bookmarks,flag pairs games and more, then there is a separate order form...find it under "What's new?"...Sept 15.  There is also an activity sheet suitable for Year 6, that accompanies the resoure entitled "Travelling in Europe".


French weather chart This is an online weather chart useful for lKS1 & ower KS2.

French/English - Spanish/English - Italian English Dictionaries On-line very simple French picture dictionary.  There are also Spanish and Italian dictionaries nere too.

Hertfordshire grid for learning This is the site that Janet Mair found the tudor ideas on....there are other cross curricular links here too.

How to do text messaging in French This site may be of interest and use to those who teach years 5 & 6...see how the Fernch use abbreviations in their text messaging.  Great fun!

Illusions optiques Some great artistic and geometric optical illusions presented in French on this authentic site.  Great for Year 6 children - and for teachers too!

Interactive quiz about Europe. The questions appear on the right hand side....click on the country or place according to your choice for the answer...and you will be told whether you are correct.  All in English - but useful for Intercultural Understanding with years 5 & 6.

Les 4 amis: powerpoint and other resources for the QCA unit of the same name. This is a link to Wendy Adeniji's site, that Helen told us about at the Storytelling Day in November.  You will find here resources for "Les 4 amis", one of the QCA units together with further traditional tales and others too.

This is a "news" site for children..it is all in French and wold be useful for Year 6 children that need to be stretched....also great for bilingual French/children.

Map of Francophone countries with interactive worksheet. Here is a very simple map of the Francophone countries around the world, and what's really useful is the interactive worksheet  - you can drag and drop the country names into the right continent....highly usable with years 5 & 6.

MOMES French site with a wonderful collection of poems on all sorts of topics.

Moustache Maternelle (Ideal for KS1) This is a French site dedicated to resources and ideas for use with KS1...it is an authentic french site so eveything is in French.

Newbury Park - Language Awareness Look no further for some WONDERFUL clips of children talking in amny different languages from around the world.  GREAT for intercultural understanding!!

QCA - resources for this Scheme Sally Benwell from Bristol has searched out a collection of ideas/links/resources to use with the QCA Scheme of Work.  When you open this link, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select the "Download resources" option.  This will save you HOURS of work if you are using QCA.  Thanks so much for sharing this Sally!

RACONTINE Have just found out about this lovely site with French stories being read aloud.  Worth a look - especially for years 3 and 4.

Sparklebox This link will take you directly to a lovely set of "transport" pictues - all freely downloadable!  If ou type "French" into the search box on the site - it will show you the other KS2 French resources they have.  Happy sparkling!!

Teaching and Learning This site has a number of downloadable resources to go with some very novel ideas...French/German/Spanish/Italian. Well worth a look and a browse!

West Sussex Grid for Learning There are numerous ideas and ready made plans plus resources here.  Look out for "Le chateau hante" - a 6 week series of lessons to teach rooms and colours ending with a "murder mystery"; plus "Le depart" built around WW2; and numerous other traditional stories leading to literacy work with all you need reay to print off and use. 

Zoo palmyre This authentic zoo site lends itself very well to sing directions to guide a partner around the zoo.   Click on "Carte  du zoo" to do this and use the arrow keys to follow the directions.  (To walk at an agle, depress a forward and right or left key  accordingly).  There is a mulitple choice Quiz question at different places around the zoo, easily spotted as they are marked with a question mark.  The quiz offers some great reading practice for years 5 & 6, with many of the words being cognates.
