Accented letters

2 ways to put accents on letters.  If you are using SMART notebook, there is no facility to do this, other then to use Word and then copy and paste that word into SMART.  (You CAN alter the language setting and have the whole thing in French - the tool bars and everything! This is also true for Word).

CPD abroad - studying "best practice".

I am on Alan Lambourne's list of people who would like to lead a CPD trip abroad.  This will hopefully take place in 2009/10.  It will be an opportunity for reflective study of the practice of foreign language teaching in another country and see what lessons can be learned. ..a study visit rather than a training opportunity.   The themes likely to be on offer are transition issues and just HOW children are taught and learn a foreign language.    I have absolutely NO details or information YET....but if you think you may be interested in such a visit, then please email me and let me know there are teachers out there who would be keen to do this with me!

Story, DVD and audio resources for KS1 and KS2.

This is a complete listing of French story books suitable for use with KS1 or KS2, together with authors and in some cases, ISBN numbers.  You will find suppliers names and contact details or web sites here too.  Please bear in mind that some of the story packs are available on loan from Resources for Learning in Bridgwater as Red star boxes.

Many of the books form part of the Somerset Primary MFL Resource collection and can be viewed at events.

Please bear  in mind that the items selected for use with KS1 are also suitable for use with KS2 - "familiar" stories, songs and rhymes are key in the KS2 Framework!  Indeed, many of the stories in this list are suitable across the Keystage even though they are categorised under Year Group headings.

For other languages - see further down this page!

Alphabet - infinitely cloned

This notebook page has the alphabet - capital letters and lower case, together with accented letters for French that I have "infinitely cloned".  This means that the children can use the letters to spell out words from memory....but as if by magic, the letters still remain available for use a many times as they are needed!

There is also a Spanish version.

There is a Spanish version under construction and is coming soon!!  Watch this space...
